Jan E. DuBois

Jan Ely DuBois (born January 17, 1931) is a United States federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Judge DuBois graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1952. From 1952 to 1954 he served in the United States Army. He received his LL.B. from Yale Law School in 1957.
After graduation, he was a law clerk to Judge Jarry Kalodner of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1957 to 1958. From 1958 to 1988 he worked in private practice in Philadelphia.
In 1988 President Ronald Reagan appointed DuBois to the District Court. He assumed senior status on April 15, 2002.
He served as the judge in the case ''Robbins v. Lower Merion School District''.
